According to the Apparel Export Promotion Council of India (AEPC), judging from the recovery of global demand and the stability of orders from various brands, Indian apparel exports will continue to rise in the next few months, or reach a record high. Indian apparel exports can come out of the blow of the epidemic, not only thanks to the help of the outside world, but also inseparable from the implementation of policies: first, the PM-Mitra (large-scale comprehensive textile area and clothing park) approved on October 21, 2021. Established, with a total amount of 4.445 billion rupees (about 381 million US dollars), a total of seven parks. Secondly, the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for the textile industry approved on December 28, 2021, with a total amount of 1068.3 billion rupees (about 14.3 billion US dollars).

Exporters have strong orders from global brands and buyers, the textile body said. India’s apparel exports in 2020-21 fell by about 21% due to disruptions due to the Covid-19 pandemic. According to the Confederation of Indian Textile Industries (Citi), India urgently needs to remove import duties due to soaring cotton prices and the low quality of cotton in the country. Domestic cotton prices in India rose from Rs 37,000/kander in September 2020 to Rs 60,000/kander in October 2021, fluctuated between Rs 64,500-67,000/kander in November, and reached Rs 70,000/kander on 31 December Kander’s peak. The federation urged the Prime Minister of India to remove import duties on the fiber.
