Cambodia’s garment exports to Türkiye grow

Cambodia has listed clothing as a potential product that could be exported to Turkey in large quantities. Bilateral trade between Cambodia and Turkey will increase by 70% in 2022 compared to the previous year. Cambodia’s garment exports also rose 110 percent to $84.143 million last year. Textiles could be a major product that could get a boost if the two countries step up efforts to boost trade.

Cambodian garment exports to Turkey are on the rise after COVID-19 disruption. Export shipments decreased from USD 48.314 million in 2019 to USD 37.564 million in 2020. The export value in 2018 was USD 56.782 million. Increase to $40.609 million in 2021 and $84.143 million in 2022. Cambodia’s clothing imports from Türkiye are negligible.

Cambodia is an importer of fabrics from Türkiye, but the transaction volume is not very large. Cambodia imported $9.385 million worth of fabrics in 2022, down from $13.025 million in 2021. Inbound shipments in 2020 were $12.099 million, compared with $7.842 million in 2019 and $4.935 million in 2018.
