Textile And Garment Exports fell Again In May

In May, our country’s textile and garment exports declined again. In dollar terms, exports fell 13.1% year-on-year and 1.3% month-on-month. From January to May, the accumulative year-on-year decrease was 5.3%, and the rate of decline expanded by 2.4 percentage points from the previous month. From the perspective of export commodity categories, due to the decline in overseas demand and the decrease in clothing export orders in Southeast Asian countries, the export of intermediate goods in China has fallen faster than that of final consumer goods. In May, textile exports fell by 14.2% year-on-year and 5.6% month-on-month. Clothing exports stabilized slightly. A decrease of 12.2%, an increase of 3% month-on-month.

Textile and clothing exports are calculated in RMB: from January to May 2023, textile and clothing exports totaled 812.37 billion yuan, an increase of 2.1% over the same period last year (the same below), of which textile exports were 390.48 billion yuan, down 2.4%, and clothing exports were 421.89 billion yuan. An increase of 6.6%.

 

In May, textile and clothing exports were 174.07 billion yuan, down 10.8% year-on-year, and 1.1% month-on-month, of which textile exports were 82.64 billion yuan, down 11.9%, down 5.5% month-on-month, and clothing exports were 91.43 billion yuan, down 9.8%, up 3.2% month-on-month .

Textile and clothing exports in US dollars: from January to May 2023, textile and clothing exports totaled US$118.2 billion, a decrease of 5.3%, of which textile exports were US$56.83 billion, a decrease of 9.4%, and clothing exports were US$61.37 billion, a decrease of 1.1%.

 

In May, textile and apparel exports were US$25.32 billion, down 13.1%, and 1.3% month-on-month, of which textile exports were US$12.02 billion, down 14.2%, down 5.6% month-on-month, and clothing exports were US$13.3 billion, down 12.2%, up 3% month-on-month.
